- Era:Â 1890s
- Region:Â Spain
The Renaissance was a period of shifts and changes in attitudes, and one of these changes was the transformation of the very idea of the garden. Previously used mainly for growing produce, many Italian gardens took on an ornamental character with the arrival of Renaissance sensibilities. One principal aspect of a garden like this was an abundance of climbing plants. As the cover design shows, this became a prominent motif in the visual style of the Renaissance.
The vines of this Tuscan Sun design and the yellow of its background are visual reminders of why Tuscany continues to lure in tourists, just as it did centuries ago. This cover provides a glimpse of the region’s rich cultural tradition and the kind of bliss to be found in a sunny Tuscan garden.
